Students of seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University staged demonstrations at Nilkhet intersection, demanding publication of the fourth-year result of honours course.
Witnesses said over a hundred students took to the streets around 9:00 this morning at the intersection in front of an entrance of the Dhaka University, creating a huge tailback on the roads from and to the intersection.
Later, the traffic congestion spilled over on other adjacent roads in the capital on the first working day of the week, Sunday.
Students said they were staging the demonstrations to press home their five-point demands including publication of the fourth year result of their honours course.
They said the colleges affiliated with the National University published the result of the same course in last May.
They alleged that they are not being able to get admitted to the graduate course due to Dhaka University authorities’ delay in publishing the results.
Earlier on 5 October, the students announced the five-point demand. The other demands include withdrawal of cases against 1,200 college students, publication of academic calendar, publication of routine for third year students and launching a new website for the DU-affiliated colleges.
